How to Make Air Fryer Onion Rings?
- 1 large sweet onion ( Of your choice )
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup of buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon of paprika
- 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1 cup of panko breadcrumbs
- Non-stick spray (olive oil)
Step by Step Procedure
Preheat the Fryer
Start the preparation of the recipe by preheating the fryer at 375°F for 3 to 5 minutes.
Cut the Onions Into Slices
While preheating the fryer, peel and cut the sweet onion into 1/2 inch thick slices and separate them into rings. This would save you time.
Take three bowls to make dredging mixtures. Put the all-purpose flour paprika, garlic powder, and salt in one bowl. Blend the eggs and buttermilk in the second bowl, and mix the panko breadcrumbs, salt, and oil in the third bowl.
Pat & Dredge the Rings
Using a paper towel, pat the onion rings gently to dry them. Moving on, use a fork to dredge them in the flour mixture, then dip in the buttermilk mixture, and finally season with panko mixture.
Note: Freezing them for 15 minutes would result in perfect sticking of seasoning.
Shift Them to Fryer Basket
To avoid sticking, spray the fryer basket with a non-stick spray or oil. Shift the seasoned rings into the basket carefully. Avoid overcrowding, however, you can arrange them in such a way that large rings sit outside and the smaller ones inside them. But make sure that there is enough space between the rings.
Cook for 12 to 15 Minutes
Air fry the seasoned onion rings at 375°F for 12 to 15 minutes until they turn tender, crispy, and golden brown. To make them crispier, you can spray the additional oil after 7 minutes.
Take Out & Serve
After the given time is passed, your crispy onion rings are ready with amazing taste. Take them off with a spatula or fork. Let them rest for 2 minutes and then serve or enjoy them with any of your favorite dipping sauces, honey mustard, or ketchup.
